The Heart of the Matter

But The Lord said unto Samuel (he is speaking of the future king David’s brother, Eliab),
Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him; for The Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but The Lord looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7

What does God see when he sees my heart?
Does my heart turn away from Jesus when he comes knocking?
Do I lock my hearts door and tiptoe away hoping that he will forget he knocked?
Do I remember that he is God
And I am not?
Does my heart crave his presence?
Do I meditate on him day and night?
Do I need to tell my heart to turn around
And face the one who redeemed it?

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalms 46:1
