Worthy is the Lamb

There is a Book of Life that will be opened at the end of this present age; it is a book that contains the names of all the redeemed; the ones who were lost, but are now found; the ones who were slaves, but are now free; the ones who were tortured, tormented, sick and alone, but are now healed, awake and adopted into a family.

Who is worthy to open the Book of Life?

Revelation 5: verse 3…….And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon……..
Verse 6………And I beheld, and lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and on the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
7……….And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.”………………
We continue in verse 11: And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands.
12: saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

The elders, the angels, the beasts, and the entire population of heaven begin to worship the Lamb because he is the only one found worthy to open the Book. Worthy means deserving, having due reward, or having sufficient worth or importance.

The Lamb is Jesus.

John 1:29 The next day John sees Jesus coming unto him, and says: Behold the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world.
Revelation 13: 8…….The Lamb slain from the foundation ( beginning/conception) of the world.
Isaiah 53: 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearer is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.

The importance of Jesus, The Lamb, being worthy, was to bear our sin, and the sin of the entire human race. The old covenant sacrifices of the blood of bulls and goats wasn’t enough to redeem us. Only the blood of Jesus was enough to buy us back from death. He was worthy to open the book of life that holds our names, only because he was first worthy to bear our sin and become the sacrifice for us.

When they worshiped at the throne, they sang and fell down; the elders threw their crowns down. They began to give Jesus all of the praise he was due all along, but didn’t receive. They speak and sing of power, riches, wisdom, strength, honour, glory, and blessing; all of Gods attributes, and all of the things Jesus did not receive when he walked on the earth as a human being.

Isaiah 53: 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised and we esteemed ( regarded) him not.

The power they speak of is miraculous power; the riches are abundance and full wealth in all things. The wisdom is ALL wisdom. The strength is complete ability to do all things and accomplish all tasks. The honour is proper esteem for his sacrifice; like a soldier finally being honoured with a medal for service and bravery. The glory is praise of all kinds and unending worship. The blessing is adoration and benediction.

Worthy is Jesus, the Lamb.

He is the only one who could save us.
